This Morning, I Am Thankful.

This morning was like any other morning. I was woken by the annoying sound of my 'take-your-temp!' alarm around 6:20am. A few minutes later, B was up and getting ready for work, and I was about to nestle back in for another hour of sleep.

In typical fashion, Riley had other things in mind and came to my side of the bed whimpering for breakfast as soon as B was out the door and on the road. I finally rolled out of bed around 7:40.

Most days, I still wake up groggy, and then a big smile comes to my face when I remember that I am basically living out my dream job. Already. At the age of 28. But that deserves a whole post of its own another time.

But, this morning was a little different. I've been working on allowing myself to enjoy moments. Normally I get up, get ready and dressed for what the day holds, and am on my way up to the office or out the door (armed with coffee, of course) within an hour.

Today will be different. In fact, it already has been. I am sitting here sipping on my (already twice reheated) coffee, writing out a post that wasn't already on my calendar or agenda, while still wearing PJs. I have been productive over the past two days with work stuff, so I'm thinking about treating myself to last night's season premiere of Private Practice around 10. Ahh, flexibility, you are my favorite thing some days.

So, today, I'm pausing. Not only to relish in my morning coffee and the realization that I didn't have to be out the door by 8:30AM, but because this life that I have is even better than I could have dreamed of when I was walking across that stage to grab my degree six years ago.

Some days, we all deserve to give ourselves a pat on the back for everything we have accomplished, instead of kicking ourselves because our to-do lists are still chock full of items. And, today, I'm extra thankful that God has entrusted me with this life. With my health, my home, and the beautiful beginning of my little family to enjoy every day.
What are you thankful for today?

Ahh I love this. I constantly need reminders to stop and be thankful. It's so easy to get caught up in life, and complaints, and the things you don't have - this is probably one of my biggest flaws! So thanks for the reminder! :)

Such a sweet post. And yay for you for taking some moments to just be and for knowing just how important that is!
